Beam Support Services is a chaplaincy, coaching, and consulting practice helping individuals, teams, and organizations build resilience, navigate crisis, and lead through change. Beam Support includes proactive training, crisis management, and strategic guidance with compassion and clarity.




Greg Hochhalter is a seasoned leader who has spent decades walking with people through life’s most defining moments. As Beam’s founder, he supports with care that’s both compassionate and consequential. With a background in pastoral ministry and emergency services chaplaincy, along with a lived experience as a firefighter and emergency medical responder, Greg is a certified mental health educator, trauma-informed responder, and trusted voice for those navigating change, conflict, or crisis.

The Working Mind

      
The Working Mind is an interactive, evidenced-based training developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Opening Minds initiative. The course helps participants increase mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and build resilience at work. Through engaging modules covering the Mental Health Continum and stress management strategies, attendees learn to recognize signs of mental distress in themselves and others, foster supportive conversations, and apply practical self-care and coping tools. Rich in real-world scenarios, lived experience videos, group discussions, and take-away resources, the course empowers individuals to maintain their psychological well-being and contribute to mentally healthy and inclusive workplace cultures.

The Working Mind

The Working Mind First Responders is a specialized version of the Mental Health Commision’s evidenced-based training, tailored to the unique culture and challenges of police, fire, EMS, corrections, and other frontline professions. This course equips first responders with practical tools to reduce mental health stigma, recognize early signs of stress and distress, and strengthen resilience under pressure. Featuring the Mental Health Continuum Model, real-life scenarios, and peer-relevant strategies, TWMFR empowers participants to safeguard their mental wellness and support their teammates - both on and off the job.

Mental Fitness & Resilience: A Primer


This custom session is a concise but impactful introduction to mental health and resilience. It’s designed to equip participants with practical tools to understand stress, recognize its effects, and cultivate resilience before challenges arise.

The experience introduces a simplified version of the mental health continuum, and spotlights the physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and spiritual signs of stress. Through interactive discussion and self-reflection, attendees will identify their own stress responses and discover multiple evidence-based resilience-building strategies.





This 2-hour primer can be tailored for any context and is suitable for groups of any size. It’s ideal for individuals seeking to enhance their mental well-being, navigate stress more effectively, and develop proactive approaches to strengthening resilience in their personal and professional lives.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is a tangible way to recognize individuals of all ages and all walks of life who have made a difference in their communities. In recognition of his service to the faith community, the residents of Strathcona County, and the men and women of Strathcona County Emergency Services, Greg was awarded the King’s Coronation Medal in April, 2025.
